The Chicago Bears made a huge splash in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft when they traded up to draft quarterback Justin Fields with the 11th overall pick.
It was a move that had Bears fans everywhere hyped about a quarterback that was ranked by many analysts as the second best prospect in the draft class behind Trevor Lawrence. And given Smith’s skillset and playmaking ability, Bears fans have plenty to be excited about.
NBC Sports Chicago captured the reaction of Bears fans in attendance at the White Sox game on Thursday night as the Fields pick was made. And it’s safe to say they were as hyped as everyone else.

The Bears have been aggressive at the quarterback position this offseason, inquiring about trading from everyone from Russell Wilson to Deshaun Watson. But they ultimately took to the NFL draft for their next attempt at a franchise quarterback in Fields.
The reaction to Fields has been the polar opposite to that of when Chicago selected Mitchell Trubisky with the No. 2 overall pick back in 2017. Let’s hope that the warm reception for Fields pays off down the line.
