Naoya Inoue lived up to his nickname, ‘The Monster’, as he brutally knocked out Nonito Donaire in the second round.
The bout was a rematch of their 2019 ‘Fight of the Year’, which Inoue won on points, but this time it was a much more decisive victory for the man from Japan as he dispatched of Donaire quickly.

After dropping Donaire with a flash knockdown in the final moments of round one, Inoue immediately set about his Filipino rival at the start of the second round.
It did not take long for ‘The Monster’ to have Donaire hurt once again, as he landed a clean left hook to the temple of ‘The Filipino Flash’ and his legs immediately went to jelly.
It seemed that Donaire was on his way down, but he miraculously managed to stay on his feet to the surprise of the commentary team, who exclaimed: “Down! he doesn’t go down, he’s wobbled.”
“His legs are all over the place.”
Shortly after Inoue finished the fight with a pair of 1-2’s, followed by a left hook to secure the knockout, as Donaire was unable to continue and the referee waved off the contest.
The commentary team, which included former world champion Chris Algieri, were once again full of praise for ‘The Monster’, saying, “And that is it.
