Sky Cinema has released the first trailer for Michael Mann’s new movie Ferrari ahead of its world premiere tomorrow (August 31) at the Venice International Film Festival.

The movie is based on the real-life story of Enzo Ferrari with Adam Driver taking on the lead role as the ex-racecar driver faces a crisis in the summer of 1957.

Not only is the factory that he built with his wife Laura (Penélope Cruz) threatened by bankruptcy, their marriage is also suffering from the loss of their son Dino a year earlier. But Enzo sees redemption in the form of the infamous 1,000-mile race, the Mille Miglia.

Ferrari will be released in UK cinemas on December 26 and will be available to watch on Sky Cinema in 2024.

The movie also stars Shailene Woodley as Lina Lardi, Sarah Gadon as Linda Christian, Patrick Dempsey as Piero Taruffi, Gabriel Leone as Alfonso de Portago and Jack O’Connell as Peter Collins.

During filming last year, Dempsey called his role in the movie as a “dream job”, adding: “I’m having a great time. I’m getting to drive a lot of fast cars.”

Ferrari isn’t the only high-profile movie being released by Sky Cinema in the final months of the year.

Ahead of Ferrari, May December will be out in UK cinemas on November 17 and available to watch on Sky Cinema from December 1.

Driver was seen earlier this year in sci-fi action movie 65 which wasn’t exactly a hit with the critics or at the box office, but did become a big success when it arrived on Netflix in the US in July.

Ferrari is released in UK cinemas on December 26 and will be available to watch on Sky Cinema in 2024.
