THINK IT’S A GOOD SUNDAY FOR SPORTS. THANK YOU SO MUCH, JOHN. I’M DEFINITELY PLANNING ON BEING INSIDE FOR MOST OF IT, WATCHING FOOTBALL TODAY. BRIAN, IT’S THESE REGULAR SEASON FINALE. YEAH, WE’RE HERE ALREADY. I KNOW PANTHERS ON THE ROAD, SO YEAH, TYPICALLY THIS IS THE TIME I WOULD HAVE PUT UP SOME SPORTS RELATED FORECAST. EVERYTHING’S INDOORS. YEAH. SOMETHING TO YOU AND CLEAR THAT TO YOU. YEAH. THAT’S SIMPLY NOT THE FORECAST TODAY. IT IS NOT IN. WE’RE GOING TO LOOK AT A CHILLY RAIN FOR THOSE FOLKS HEADED TO WHEREVER YOUR FOOTBALL DESTINATION IS. GOT WET ROADS IN THE FORECAST EXCUSE ME BEFORE THAT AFTERNOON KICK OFF TODAY. IT’S ALREADY BEGINNING. GOT SOME SHOWERY WEATHER BEGINNING THIS SLIDE IN. AND FOR OUR NORTHERN COUNTIES, IT’S BEGINNING IS A WINTRY MIX. NOW, TYPICALLY WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE COLD ENOUGH, THE ATMOSPHERE IS IN AN EVEN TEMPERATURE TOP TO BOTTOM. SO YOU START TO BRING SOME WET WEATHER THROUGH IT. YOU START TO COOL THINGS DOWN A LITTLE BIT, BUT IT USUALLY STARTS AS A MIXED BAG OF CONDITIONS, ESPECIALLY WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE HANGING CLOSE TO FREEZING BEFORE IT KIND OF SETTLES ON ONE OR AT LEAST A PREDOMINANT TYPE OF PRECEPT. SO A LITTLE SNOW, A LITTLE SLEET UP IN THE EXCUSE ME, HIGH COUNTRY. I DON’T KNOW ALL MY VOICE IS DOING TODAY. SOME WET WEATHER COMING IN OUT OF THE WEST, GETTING A LITTLE SHOWERY, BUT YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE GLAZE IS OCCURRING ON SOME OF THE ELEVATED SURFACES. THIS IS THIS IS LIGHT, THOUGH, AND NOT EXPECTED TO BE IMPACTFUL AT ALL. IN FACT, THIS VERY THING, THIS IS GOING TO GRADUALLY OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS, KIND OF WARM TO A RAIN. BUT MY ADVICE TODAY IS, ALTHOUGH I’M NOT EXPECTING ANY ROAD TRAVEL TO BECOME TREACHEROUS OR AT LEAST NOT WIDESPREAD, I WOULD WATCH YOUR STEP TODAY BECAUSE PLACES LIKE STEPS IN DECKS TEND TO GET SLIPPERY FIRST UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. SO IT’S MORE OF NOT SO MUCH GOING TO WHERE YOU NEED TO GO IN YOUR CAR. IT’S LIKE GETTING TO YOUR CAR AND GETTING FROM YOUR CAR TO WHERE YOU NEED TO BE, THAT THINGS ARE POTENTIALLY COULD GET A LITTLE BIT SLIPPERY TODAY. YOU COULD SEE THE THE AREA OF WET WEATHER EXTENDS ACROSS THE STATES. WE ACTUALLY HAVE SOME PRETTY GOOD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING ALONG THAT LINE. SEVERE WEATHER IN THESE AREAS BE LIMITED TODAY APART FROM SOME CHANCES FOR FLASH FLOODING, AT LEAST SOME PONDING. OUR NEXT STORM SYSTEM FOR LATER IN THE WEEK WILL AT LEAST COME FROM THIS GENERAL AREA. WE’LL HAVE A COUPLE OF WAVES THIS WEEK AS ONE PARENT LOW HERE, ANOTHER ONE BACKING THAT UP JUST BEHIND IT THERE. DEVELOPING THIS TENDS TO BE AN ACTIVE PERIOD THAT WE’RE IN THIS TIME OF YEAR IN THE PACIFIC. AND YOU GET THESE SYSTEMS ACROSS THE NATION, INCLUDING THE ONE THAT WE’RE SEEING TODAY, THAT WAS THE ONE ONE OF THE ONES THAT POUNDED THE WEST COAST A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO. OUR TEMPERATURES, AGAIN, YOU CAN SEE, ARE HOVERING JUST ABOVE FREEZING. WE’VE GOT HEAVY CLOUDS IN PLACE. IT’S GRAY, IT’S COOL. IT’S KIND OF RAW OUTSIDE. BUT EVEN IN THE FOOTHILLS THAT ARE UNDER A WINTER ADVISORY, WE HAVE TEMPERATURES THAT ARE IN THE MID TO UPPER THIRTIES. IT’S JUST COLDER IN DENVER, IN MARTINSVILLE, IN PLACES LIKE GALAX, WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE SITTING CLOSE TO FREEZING. AND THOSE AREAS DO HAVE THOSE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES. I THINK FOR THE FOOTHILLS, IF YOU LIVE IN WILKES, IF YOU LIVE IN SURRY COUNTY, EVEN PATRICK COUNTY, VIRGINIA, YOU’LL HAVE A SHORTER OR A BRIEF PERIOD OF WINTRY MIX AND THEN IT STARTS TO WARM TO RAIN PRETTY QUICKLY, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING WHERE OUR TEMPERATURES ARE RIGHT NOW. SO AS FAR AS IMPACT GOES, THESE ARE THE WINTER WEATHER AREAS. BUT AS FAR AS IMPACT GOES, WE’RE NOT EXPECTING ANY THIS TIME AROUND. SO KEEP OUR FINGERS CROSSED THAT. SO THE CHALLENGE IS REALLY TIMING OUT. THE RAIN CHANCES. SO I THINK WE’LL SEE A SLOW BUT STEADY WILL BE IN THE THIRTIES TO NEAR 40 FOR MUCH OF THE AFTERNOON. I THINK WHAT SOME POINT IN THE AFTERNOON WE’LL START TO BREAK THE SHOWERS APART, BUT WE’LL START TO RETURN THEM THIS EVENING. SO A RETURN OF KIND OF A WEATHER IMPACT TIME FRAME WITH THOSE RAIN CHANCES HIGHER THAN 50%. WE’LL SEE THAT IN THE FOOTHILLS TO TEMPERATURES LIKELY UPPER THIRTIES. WE’RE STARTING AT A LITTLE MILDER THERE THAN WE ARE ACROSS THE PIEDMONT. TRY IT. SO IT’S A GOOD SIGN THAT THIS WILL BE PREDOMINANTLY RAIN. EVEN THE MOUNTAINS WILL START AS A WINTRY MIX, BUT SHOULD SEE TEMPERATURES WARM JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE RAIN. THE THE DOMINANT TYPE OF WET WEATHER THAT WE SEE TODAY. AS WE LOOK AT THE HOUR BY HOUR, YOU CAN SEE SOME PERIODS OF SOGGY WEATHER TAPERS A BIT IN THE AFTERNOON, RETURNS THIS EVENING. YOU CAN SEE THE WINTRY MIX AT THIS POINT IS PRETTY MUCH GONE. AND THEN THE SHOWERS END ALTOGETHER AS WE HEAD INTO LATER TONIGHT. SEVEN, EIGHT FORECAST. WE’RE BACK IN THE FIFTIES WITH SUNSHINE TOMORROW. MID-FIFTIES FOR A GOOD STRETCH OF DAYS BEFORE RAIN. CHANCES RETURN LATER T
