Winning jockey Aidan Coleman said: “I called it a terrible ride but terrible may be a bit extreme!

“He got into trouble leaving the back – that’s his run style – that was always on the cards.

“I stayed there, thinking it will be OK, but I ended up being squeezed out wide.

“He didn’t like being out there but good horses get you out of trouble.

“He would have been an unlucky loser. I’m really happy.”

Fans at home were equally ecstatic.

One said: “I have just lost my voice screaming him home. That was truly fantastic. Well done Paisley Park.”
