Watch Ohio State football’s Haskell Garrett with a defensive lineman pick-six against Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. — No other Ohio State football player has matched the adversity Haskell Garrett has overcome to return to the field this season.
Perhaps it is fitting the senior defensive end was rewarded with one of the biggest defensive plays of an impressive first half against Michigan State.
The Buckeyes downed a Drue Chrisman punt at the 1, putting the Spartans’ backs against the wall. Michigan State’s continually anemic running game did nothing on the first two downs, with Garrett smothering Connor Heyward for no gain on second down.
The Spartans went to the air on third down, but that quickly imploded. Garrett tipped Rocky Lombardi’s pass, then caught it in the end zone for his first career touchdown and a 28-0 lead.
Michigan State’s other six possessions have ended in punts.

Garrett was shot in the face in late August yet returned to play in the season opener against Nebraska, earning Ohio State’s Defensive Player of the Game honors. His play at 3 technique defensive tackle, next to nose Tommy Togiai, has keyed the Buckeyes’ defense through the first five games.
