It’s part of a 27-hour trip for Biden, who arrived Thursday evening, and marks the first non-summit overnight visit by a U.S. president in almost two decades.
Before his address to Parliament, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting on Friday, while Biden was welcomed with a ceremony in the West Block of Parliament Hill. On Thursday evening, the Bidens were invited to Rideau Cottage for a private event with the Trudeaus.
It’s expected on Friday that they’ll announce a finalized deal that would effectively close a loophole in the Safe Third Country Agreement, as Canada is reportedly ready to accept 15,000 more migrants.
Also on the agenda is expected to be conversations about the war in Ukraine, Chinese and foreign interference, turmoil in the banking world, trade, climate change, Arctic security and the political crisis in Haiti, among other topics.
