WATCH: Julius Randle restrained from going after refs following Knicks loss to Nets

The Knicks’ comeback bid against the Brooklyn Nets Monday night fell short, but perhaps it should not have.

Julius Randle had to be restrained by teammates following the game after a questionable call against him in the final second secured the 117-112 victory for the Nets.

With 5.7 seconds remaining, Randle received an inbounds pass and attempted to shoot a game-tying 3-pointer when Kyrie Irving knocked the ball loose as Randle went up for the shot.

Randle lost his handle on the ball and came back down and was called for traveling.

The Knicks forward could not believe the call, arguing that Irving had hit the ball and therefore it should be a jumpball.

Instead, the Nets were given possession and were sent to the free throw line – sealing the game for Brooklyn.

As the clock hit zero, Randle was still hot. He bumped Jeff Green and appeared to be headed toward the officials when Knicks rookie Obi Toppin tried to stop him. Other teammates and coaches stepped in and helped Toppin restrain Randle and get him to head to the locker room as Randle shouted across the court.

As Randle made his way toward the tunnel he was still visibly upset and flipped a chair en route to the locker room.

Even Damian Lillard chimed in to side with Randle.

Randle, an All-Star, has been central to the Knicks’ success this season and is on pace to have a career-year.

He led the team with 33 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in the loss to the Nets.
