Erling Haaland was unable to play for Manchester City in Saturday’s Premier League game against Liverpool due to a groin injury.

City’s star striker, who has scored 42 goals in 37 games this season, watched the match from the stands as Julian Alvarez took his place in the starting XI.

Alvarez scored his sixth EPL goal to level the contest at 1-1 in the 27th minute, after Mo Salah had earlier fired Liverpool in front.

Haaland was visibly thrilled to see Alvarez score. The Norwegian’s celebrations were captured by TV cameras at the Etihad Stadium.

Those celebrations involved jumping on his dad Alfie, before pushing the former City midfielder and wrapping his arm around his neck.

Alfie Haaland played 47 times for City between 2000 and 2002.
