Watch: Gordon Ramsay gets rinsed for claiming he ‘was skint’ while owning Porsche

Porsche #Porsche

Gordon Ramsay has been lampooned after he was told to ‘sell his Porsche’ by his father-in-law when he asked for a deposit on a flat — claiming he was ‘skint’ at the time.

The celebrity chef, who has fronted shows such as Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, and Masterchef US, said that he and his wife Tana had found an apartment they ‘loved’ and went to her father Chris Hutcheson for a £20,000 loan so they could put the deposit on it.

However, instead of giving them the loan, Chris told Gordon to sell his 911 Porsche — with Gordon admitting that it was ‘the best advice [Chris] ever gave me.’

‘We were young, we were stupid, and we were skint,’ Gordon told Jake Humphreys on the High Performance podcast. ‘I remember going to ask [Tana’s] father if I could borrow 20 grand for a deposit for a flat we fell in love with.

‘I thought lunch went well, I’ll pay for lunch, and then I went “oh, about that deposit, Tana and I have got half — we need the other 20 grand, I’ll pay you back in a year,”‘ Gordon told his father in law — who replied ‘here’s what I’ll do: I’ll have another lunch with you, when you sell your Porsche.’

‘I thought “you f***er… but you clever f***er,”‘ Gordon continued. ‘Here I am, driving around in a flash f***ing 911 and we didn’t even have a f***ing house. We didn’t have a flat. We didn’t have a roof over our heads. It was the best advice he ever gave me.’

People were amused at the story, namely the fact that Gordon said that he and Tana were ‘skint’ despite driving a sports car — with one person commenting ‘Imagine thinking this is advice? Laughably out of touch.’

‘We were skint? Driving round in a porsche..’ another commented, while another added ‘Skint with a porche and 20k. Man doesn’t know the meaning of skint.’

The comments have already sparked countless memes online with Porsche now trending on Twitter.
