Backers of Frumos will be hoping for a change of fortune when the Chris Waller mare steps out in the final race at Randwick on Saturday.

Her supporters were in a world of pain first-up when she got badly held up in the straight after jumping from the inside barrier.

She ended up finishing sixth behind Ruby Tuesday, going to the line untested.

It was the second horror show in three starts with Frumos, who had suffered a similar fate last campaign at Rosehill.

Punters.com.au’s Nick Hluchaniuk and form expert Mick Sharkie are sticking with the lightly-race five-year-old however, making Frumos the best bet on the Randwick card.

Frumos, who won her first three starts but has now suffered three straight defeats as favourite, will jump from barrier six with star jockey James McDonald in the saddle.

“We know what happened last start from barrier one. She’s short here ($2.25 with Betr), but barrier six with J-Mac aboard, I actually thought she might be a little bit shorter,” Hluchaniuk said.

Sharkie is also keen to play at the price.

“I’m with Frumos as well, everyone saw that run last time. I reckon she’s worth a bet at the current price.”

Kerrin McEvoy was aboard for the first-up run and told connections post-race that the mare had required just an ounce of luck.

“He (McEvoy) said if the mare got half a run, he had that much horse underneath him she would have powered through the gap but she didn’t get an inch,” Waller’s stable representative Charlie Duckworth said following the luckless outing.

Frumos heads the market from Godolphin filly Jewellery ($5.50) with another Waller mare, Bella Rouge, on the third line at $7.
