Miami Dolphins’ safety Jevon Holland’s first interception of the season was one he won’t forget. Holland returned an interception 99 yards to the house for a pick-six during the Dolphins’ 34-13 win over the New York Jets on Friday.

The former Oregon Ducks’ star took advantage of the Jets’ attempt to complete a “Hail Mary” pass at the end of the second quarter. New York quarterback Tim Boyle launched a throw from the Jets’ 42 toward the Dolphins’ end zone and Holland grabbed the pass at the Miami 1.

Seeing plenty of green turf in front of him, Holland took off and ran untouched to the Jets’ 40, where he got a couple of nice blocks from defensive tackle Christian Wilkins and linebacker Bradley Chubb. He ran past Jets’ offensive tackle Max Mitchell before easily faking out Boyle and cruising into the end zone.

The pick-six was the first of Holland’s career and gave the Dolphins a 17-6 lead going into halftime. Holland, a second-round pick (No. 36) by the Dolphins in the 2021 NFL draft, finished the game with five total tackles in the game.
