Schoolboy Emil is sent by bus from a rural area to Berlin to visit his grandmother and take her some money. On the way the money is stolen from Emil by a crook working for the crime boss known as The Baron, Emil slowly uncovers a plot to rob a bank being carried out by a team of criminals. With the help of a young detective called Gustav and his team of schoolboy detectives they set out to foil the plans of The Baron.
