The Chicago Bears don’t report to training camp for another couple of weeks, but that hasn’t stopped veteran quarterback Andy Dalton from getting some reps in with one of his new offensive weapons.

Dalton signed a one-year deal with the Bears earlier this year, and he’s already been promised the starting job as Matt Nagy made it clear that rookie Justin Fields can’t win the job in training camp.

And while it’s clear Fields will replace Dalton at some point this season, that hasn’t stopped him from making the most out of his stop in Chicago following stints in Cincinnati and Dallas.

Dalton shared a video of him putting some work in ahead of training camp, where he’s been getting some reps in with second-year wide receiver Darnell Mooney.

Dalton spent his first nine seasons with the Bengals before signing with the Cowboys in free agency. Last year, Dalton served as Dan Prescott’s back-up in Dallas before Prescott suffered a season-ending ankle injury. Dalton was serviceable, where he completed 64.9% of his passes for 2,170 yards, 14 touchdowns, eight interceptions and an 87.3 quarterback rating.

While Dalton already has the Week 1 starting job on lock, it’s going to be hard to avoid comparisons between him and Fields during training camp and preseason.
