Watch: Anthony Martial scores for Man Utd after brilliant build-up play

Martial #Martial

Anthony Martial continued his impressive pre-season form with a goal in Manchester United’s friendly against Crystal Palace.

Martial has endured a difficult couple of years, scoring just five Premier League goals in 30 appearances since the start of the 2020-21 season.

He joined Sevilla on loan for the second half of last season but failed to rediscover his best form, netting just one goal in 12 appearances for the Spanish side.

The France international was reportedly deemed surplus to requirements by Erik ten Hag, who is looking for attacking reinforcements this summer.

But Cristiano Ronaldo is currently missing from United’s pre-season tour due to personal reasons and Martial has seized his opportunity with both hands.

The 26-year-old started up front against Liverpool in United’s first pre-season friendly and produced an impressive performance, scoring United’s third goal in a 4-0 win.

He then made it two goals in two games as United came from behind to beat Melbourne Victory 4-1 in their second friendly.

“I’m sure he can come back even better,” Ten Hag said after the win over Melbourne Victory. “I think when he has the right focus and the right motivation and he works hard he will have production because he is a good player.

“I say when he has the right focus and every day delivers his max then he will have production and it’s up to him.”

United are still in Melbourne and came up against fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace. The Red Devils started strongly and took the lead in the 17th minute.

Left-back Tyrell Malacia, who was making his first start for the club, picked out fellow full-back Diogo Dalot with a brilliant pass with his right foot.

Dalot then crossed it into Martial, who brought the ball under control before firing past Palace goalkeeper Remi Matthews.
