Cometh the hour! Cometh the man. Once again with India under pressure, captain Jasprit Bumrah stepped up and produced a moment of magic. Chasing a total of 377 in the fourth innings, the England opening pair of Alex Lees and Zak Crawley gave their team a wonderful start with a stunning 107-run partnership on the fourth day of play at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
As India’s chances to seal a historic series win seemed to be drifting away in front of their eyes, Bumrah stunned the stadium with an incredible delivery that rattled Crawley’s stumps. The English opener, who is fighting for his place in the team had to walk off for a knock of 46 on the stroke of tea.
Bumrah’s delivery pitched on a good length and swung in and completely caught the right-handed opening batter by surprise. Crawley assumed the ball will the stumps and looked to leave the delivery but the late swing left him shocked and gave India their first wicket of the day.

England are looking to chase a total of 377- which will be the second-highest total ever ever chased on English soil if succesful. It will also be the hosts highest-ever chase in Test cricket history if Ben Stokes & co are able to scale the mountain.
In his captaincy debut for India, Bumrah has had a dream outing in Birmingham. In the first innings, he stunned the world with the bat and set a new world record of most runs ever scored in an over in Test cricket. Later, he took three wickets in England’s first innings and demolished their top-order.
Bumrah was named captain of the team following Rohit Sharma’s positive COVID-19 diagnosis with KL Rahul also missing due to an injury. The star pacer was named vice-captain for India’s home series against Sri Lanka earlier this year.
