Wataru Endo claims lifting a record 10th Carabao Cup could unlock the key to more silverware for Quadruple-chasing Liverpool.

Liverpool aim to win their first trophy to give Jurgen Klopp a glorious send-off and Endo knows how important it is to get their first piece of silverware on the sideboard. The Reds are top of the Premier League and progressing in the FA Cup and Europa League and Endo says beating Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday could help their quest.

“If we could win this first one, I think it would have a really positive impact on the other competitions we’re competing in,” he said. “Winning at Wembley would give us extra energy for the challenges ahead.”

Endo, 31, admits he was gutted when he heard Klopp was going while on international duty with Japan at the Asia Cup. He is grateful to Klopp for signing him for £16.2million from Stuttgart in August when Liverpool failed to land Moses Caicedo and desperately wants to repay him with trophies.

“I was sad to hear about that,” said the midfielder. “I really enjoy playing for him and playing football the way he plays. It’s disappointing, but I really want us to achieve titles for him before he goes.

“I’ve only played for Jurgen for one season. Others have been here a lot longer so maybe have more emotion, but he has helped me so much.”

Endo is excited about playing his first final at Wembley and says lifting his first trophy with Liverpool would mean a lot to him. “I’m so excited to play there,” he said. “I heard that 90,000 people will be there to watch. It will be my first time at such a special stadium.

“It would mean a lot to me to win. It would be my first title with Liverpool. I’m very excited and I’m focused on doing everything I can to help the team win the final.”
