Was BTS’ Jungkook Crowned the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’?

He may be the youngest member of BTS, but he’s still considered sexy by fans across the globe. As a result, when People created their “Sexiest International Man” category for 2020, Jungkook was sure to pick up some recognition.

Here’s what we know about the “Golden Maknae” of BTS, the singer and dancer Jungkook.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, 2020 wasn’t exactly what BTS and their fans expected. Following the release of Map of the Soul: 7, fans anticipated a now-postponed stadium tour. 

Instead of performing with the Map of the Soul tour, the BTS performers released a full-length album and a single, “Dynamite,” which propelled them to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 music chart and even earned them a Grammy nomination. (Their first Grammy nomination, in fact.) 

Jungkook, the youngest singer in the boy band, even earned a title from People, the “Sexiest International Man” for the year 2020, the first person ever to receive the title. Soon after, fans took to social media, trending “#SexiestManJungkook” on Twitter.

This K-pop idol beat out celebrities including Dan Levy, Keith Urban, Matthew Rhys and Paul Mescal and even earned recognition in another one of People’s well-known categories — Sexiest Man.

Who is the People’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2020?

Known for his roles in films like Marvel’s Black Panther, Creed, and Just Mercy, the “Sexist Man Alive” for 2020 is Michael B. Jordan. Other celebrities who earned recognition included the former One Direction performer, Harry Styles and Marvel actor and activist Chris Evans.

Of the BTS members, Jungkook was the only one who earned recognition in the “Sexiest Man” category, although each of the performers received awards and recognition for their looks in the past. That includes the oldest member of the group, Jin, who even earned the nickname “Worldwide Handsome” from fans.

Jungkook isn’t the only BTS member to earn recognition for his visuals

Sure, Jungkook is the “Golden Maknae,” known for his looks and talent, but each of the seven BTS members earn praise from fans. When it comes to fan-awarded nicknames, Jin even earned the title “Car Door Guy” for looking flawless while stepping out of a vehicle. 

With over a million people voting, V came in third for Ranker’s “The Hottest Men Of 2020” poll, trailing behind Chris Hemsworth and Harry Styles. Jin is #21 on Ranker’s list of “The Hottest Men Of 2019,” with over three million people voting.
