Ireland pacer Josh Little opened up on his bowling performance against New Zealand after he claimed a stunning hat-trick against them on Friday in Adelaide.

Little was in top form on the day as he completed the feat by picking up the wickets of Kane Williamson, Jimmy Neesham, and Mitchell Santner to ensure that the Kiwis didn’t go over the 200-run mark.

After having won the toss, Ireland chose to bowl first and had the New Zealand batters under control before Williamson broke loose. The Kiwi skipper scored a well-made 35-ball 61 and threatened to take the game away from the Irish when Little came to put the brakes on the innings and claim a magical hat-trick.

The left-arm pacer got the wicket of Williamson in the second ball of the 19th over and went on to trap Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santner in the next two deliveries to claim the sixth hat-trick in the history of the T20 World Cup and the second one of this year’s tournament.

Little also became the second Irish bowler to get a hat-trick in the tournament after Curtis Campher last year.

Speaking after his record feat, as quoted by Cricbuzz, Little said that there was a little bit of tail back into the left-handers and wanted to exploit it. Little said that he was lucky to execute it against Neesham and Santner.

The Ireland pacer said he was a bit short early on but then decided to go full.

“I guess it was a little bit of tail back into the left-handers, wanted to execute it two times in a row and I got lucky to have managed it. I think I was a bit short early on, then went a bit greedy and went full,” said Little.

Little also said that Ireland can chase down the target of 186 against New Zealand and cause another upset in the World Cup.

“I don’t see why we can’t chase this down, time for another upset in this World Cup,” said Little.
