Vodafone to investigate poor mobile coverage in Erris after councillor receives several complaints

VODAFONE are to investigate poor mobile phone coverage in parts of Erris after a local county councillor received several complaints from constituents.
Cllr Gerry Coyle told The Mayo News that several parts of Erris are having major difficulty with mobile phone coverage on the Vodafone network.
Speaking over a WhatsApp call, Cllr Coyle said that parts of Porturlin have had ‘no coverage whatsoever’ from Vodafone for a least three months.
He also cited his own village of Geesala, as well as Doolough and Shraigh among the areas affected.
“I’m getting a lot of complaints about it in the last few months. A lot of complaints,” the Fine Gael councillor said.
“I’m getting complaints from everybody about the 087 network here in Erris, from everybody that has it. The other ones [networks] don’t seem to be suffering that.”
Cllr Coyle said that he has been in touch with Vodafone ‘several times’ regarding the issue.
The company have investigated the sites serving the affected areas but have not identified any potential faults.
A team of Vodafone engineers are to conduct further investigations into the matter. It is expected that this will take a number of days to complete.
“We are aware that a small number of our customers are experiencing coverage issues in the Geesala, Porturlin, Doolough and Shraigh area,” a spokeswoman for Vodafone told The Mayo News.
“Our team have investigated the sites serving the area and while we cannot see any active or ongoing issues at present, we are sending a team of engineers to investigate this further. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers and are working to resolve this as soon as possible.”
