Vivek Ramaswamy Debates the Size of Nikki Haley’s Heels With Dick Cheney Comparison

A question about the Israel-Hamas War turned into a discussion on high heels during the third Republican debate in Miami on Wednesday.

GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was faced with a question about what he would tell Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid the country’s war with Hamas. Like his rivals Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Ramaswamy said Israel had the right to defend itself.

“I would tell him [Netanyahu] to smoke those terrorists on his southern border…” said Ramaswamy, later adding that he would be “careful to avoid making the mistakes from the establishment of the past.”

The youngest GOP candidate took a swipe at Haley, suggesting that if she were the president, she would become a military contractor to profit from the war. “I think that that’s wrong when Republicans do it or Democrats do it. Do you want a leader from a different generation who’s going to put this country first, or do you want Dick Cheney in 3-inch heels?” said Ramaswamy, making the audience raise their voices.

“We’ve got two of them onstage tonight,” Ramaswamy added, apparently targetting DeSantis, who’s been questioned about using height-increasing inserts or heels on them during his campaign.

The heel discussion came in the first 20 minutes of the debate. Haley was allowed to address the “Cheney in 3-inch heels” comment. “I’d first like to say, they’re 5-inch heels — and I don’t wear them unless you can run in them,” she answered. “The second thing I will say: I wear heels, they’re not for a fashion statement, they’re for ammunition.”

This is not the first time high heels have become a subject of interest during the GOP presidential primaries. On Nov. 1, during an interview on “The Daily Show,” Haley was asked whether she planned to wear high heels to appear taller than DeSantis on stage.

“I don’t know. We’ll have to figure that out. I can tell you, I’ve always talked about my high heels. I’ve never … hid that from anybody,” Haley said. “I’ve always said: Don’t wear them if you can’t run in them. So we’ll see if he can run in them,” she added.
