Viral Bernie Sanders’ Inauguration Day fashion is already a bobblehead

Fashion at the 59th Inauguration Day was highlighted by a former presidential candidate sporting a beige parka and knit patterned mittens – and it’s already a bobblehead.
While women’s fashion gave nods to women’s suffrage, Shirley Chisholm – the first Black woman elected to Congress and the first Black major-party candidate to run for U.S. president – the day’s viral fashion moment went to the practically dressed U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vermont, the Associated Press reports.
An image of Sanders wearing comfy, warm attire while watching the outdoor inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday, Jan. 20, has become a pop culture moment with memes littering the internet.
Within 24 hours, the viral fashion moment was commemorated with a bobblehead. It’s on online pre-sale for $25 from the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.
Harris gave a nod to women’s suffrage, Shirley Chisholm and her college sorority in pearls and purple, The AP reports. Former first ladies Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush also donned hues of purple. A social media campaign encouraged wearing pearls on Inauguration Day to support Harris, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the first African American Greek-letter sorority; its founders are referred to as the “Twenty Pearls.” Every new member receives a badge adorned with 20 pearls.
