However, Arsenal’s celebrations were short lived as VAR came to the rescue for the hosts.

On the replays, Gunners defender Ben White could be seen holding the hand of goalkeeper Ward when the preceding corner was crossed in.

Referee Craig Pawson checked the monitor and spotted the infringement from the England international before ruling out the goal.

Many will feel Leicester have got away with the decision, as talkSPORT reporter Geoff Peters said: “I’m struggling to understand that, I’m sure we’ll get communication from the authorities.”

Adrian Durham agreed, replying: “We need communication on that one because we’ve watched it three or four times and I cannot see a foul, nothing significant.

“There’s physical contact but it’s a corner, there’s going to be physical contact. I couldn’t see a foul from anywhere.

“It says a White foul and I honestly cannot see… I can’t see anything really, can you something there?”

Peters then added: “I can’t see what was wrong with that. It was a fantastic hit, a terrific goal, it’s a very soft decision.”

Moments later, Kelechi Iheanacho thought he had chipped in the opener for Leicester but the linesman raised his flag for offside.

However, Arsenal eventually took the lead thanks to Gabriel Martinelli’s finish just moments after the break.

Bukayo Saka nearly made it 2-0 to the Gunners soon after, but his goal was chalked off for offside.
