Utica man charged after police find 24 pounds of marijuana in vehicle

UTICA, NY — A 20-year-old Utica man has been charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, after police said he was discovered with about 24 pounds of marijuana.

Roqun T. Caban was stopped on I-87 in the town of Newburgh in Orange County for a traffic violation at about 3 a.m. Monday, according to New York State Police.

Police found the marijuana in the vehicle in at least 20 plastic bags in a suitcase.

Caban was released on an appearance ticket, state police said.
