Australia opener Usman Khawaja said it was pretty special for him to get his first Test hundred against India on his third tour to the Asian country. Khawaja, who batted the whole day and remained unbeaten on 104, said that at the start of the day and in the latter stages of the day, they did not talk about anything and he just kept giving the strike to Travis Head early on and then to Cameron Green who was seeing the ball like a basketball.

“It was a lot of emotion in that. I have been to India on two tours before this and carried drinks in eight Test matches. It was such a nice wicket,” Khawaja told broadcasters after stumps on Day 1.
Khawaja further opened up on his celebration with Cameron Green after hitting his hundred in the final over of the opening day. Khawaja further stated that he would like to thank all the coaches and those who supported him and helped him with the warm-ups that are best for him.
“I just didn’t want to give my wicket away. It was a mental battle more than anything. You need to put your ego away.. I had the helmet in my right hand, I told him (Green) just me a hug, instead of a high five (following his century). I have no superstitions, I stretched a bit in the morning and I was ready to go,” Khawaja added.
Australia were 255 for four at stumps against India on the opening day of the series-deciding fourth Test on Thursday. Opener Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green were batting on 104 and 49, respectively, at the close of play. After skipper Steve Smith opted to bat, Australia were off to a good start with the duo of Khawaja and Travis Head adding 61 runs for the first wicket.
