‘Unplayable’…Junior Firpo says £36m Leeds player reminds him of Ousmane Dembele

Firpo #Firpo

Junior Firpo has been speaking all things Leeds United and had some high praise for his teammate, Georginio Rutter, in doing so.

Rutter has been in form for Leeds since they dropped into the Championship and he very much looks the part now. It comes after the Dutchman struggled in the Premier League under the weight of a big price-tag (£36m) and a struggling team.

Of course, Leeds lost a lot of players in the summer and Rutter could have been one to leave as well.

In the end, he stayed put, as did the aforementioned Firpo, who has been one of the key players under Daniel Farke this season himself.

And speaking on the Leeds United podcast, Firpo had high praise for Rutter.

Speaking on the latest episode of the pod, Firpo compared Rutter to PSG star Ousmane Dembele.

“The thing with him, he can use both feet. That ability makes him unplayable. He is good, another one that I see that in is [Ousmane] Dembele, you know don’t know if he’s a lefty or a righty – Georgie has that too,” Firpo said.

Firpo admitted in the same pod that he himself had offers to leave but after speaking with Farke, decided to stay and play his way into the team.

So far, it’s working out well for both Firpo and Farke, who are sitting and watching the likes of Rutter tear defences apart at this level.

For Rutter, the key now is to remain consistent and not rest on his laurels. After such a slow start, it’s encouraging to see him doing so well in a Leeds shirt.

Promotion is very much in the sights of Leeds again and Rutter will be key in them achieving that.

Clearly, he is impressing his teammates and if he can keep doing that, then he won’t be far off helping the Whites back into the top flight come the summer.
