UNDP donates Hansard transcription equipment to Parliament

After handing over the equipment on Monday, September 5, 2022 at Parliament building UNDP Resident Representative, Shigeki Komatsubara said the equipment will change Parliament from analogue to digital which help the transcription process to change from five days process to 24 hours.

Komatsubara said the machines will help Parliament have stronger coverage as they are yet to provide training to the parliamentarians staff for easy management of the machines.

Receiving the donation, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Aisha Adams applauded UNDP for the donation saying it will help easy access of information for the parliamentarians.

Adams said the transcription machine will lessen hansard reporters work since the chamber audios will be going straight to the hansard equipments than it was before as they used to use extra device to correct the audio from the chamber.

This is the second time the UNDP donates to Malawi Parliament towards digital modernisation as they first donates TV equipment towards Parliament TV.
