U.S. Open odds 2022: Rory McIlroy now the solo favorite at Brookline off RBC Canadian Open triumph
Rory #Rory
Everything is comng up Rory McIlroy.
Following his epic title defense at the RBC Canadian Open, McIlroy, who now has 21 PGA Tour victories, which is one more than Greg Norman, has moved into the solo-favorite spot at the 2022 U.S. Open. The four-time major champion is as low as 9-1 (Unibet) and no higher than 11-1 (FanDuel) to win at The Country Club at Brookline. Should he go on to break his nearly eight-year major drought, it would make him one of 20 golfers to win five majors in their careers in the history of the sport.
Not too long ago, Jon Rahm was the clear-cut favorite to win the national championship for a second straight year. After that, Justin Thomas took the top spot off his PGA Championship win. Now, they each check in right behind McIlroy on the odds board, both at 12-1 at the DraftKings Sportsbook. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is next at 14-1.
Following Scheffler are Xander Schauffele (16-1), Patrick Cantlay (20-1), Cameron Smith (22-1) and Jordan Spieth (28-1). Two-time major winner Collin Morikawa, whose last top-10 finish came at the Masters, is 30-1. Depending on where you look, LIV golfer Dustin Johnson is as low as 28-1 and as high as 44-1. Phil Mickelson is all the way down at 200-1 to capture the one major that has eluded him his entire career. Tiger Woods, a three-time U.S. Open champion, is not in this year’s field, opting to sit out the event and prepare for the Open Championship at St. Andrews next month.
