Tyrone Mings hits back at Priti Patel over protest comments

One of England’s defenders has accused the home secretary of “stoking” the racist abuse of the team’s players.

Tyrone Mings, 28, the Aston Villa centre-back who started England’s first two games of Euro 2020, lashed out at Priti Patel after she condemned the abuse of some of the players following their defeat to Italy on Sunday night.

Patel, whose Twitter picture is now an image of her wearing a replica England shirt, tweeted that she was “disgusted that England players who have given so much for our country this summer have been subject to vile racist abuse on social media. It has no place in our country and I back the police to hold those responsible accountable.”
