Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson making ‘big strides’ after solid start with Leeds United

Former Premier League goalkeeper Brad Friedel believes the United States are making big strides in international football and part of that is down to Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson. The Leeds United duo both signed at Elland Road earlier this summer and have impressed during the early stages of the campaign.

Both players have added a new dynamic to Jesse Marsch’s Leeds side as the American head coach looks to implement his own style of play on the Premier League, with survival the main priority last season. Before a ball had been kicked, there were questions over how the pair would adjust to life in the top flight of English football, but it’s been a case of so far so good.

American Friedel worked alongside Adams during the set-up with the United States and he admits the Whites midfielder was one of his favourites to coach.

Speaking to Betway, Friedel said: “I coached Tyler. I love Tyler, I really do. He was one of my favourites to coach. He just gives his all everywhere, he really does.

“He can speak his mind, he can have a moan with the staff, but it never stops him from playing well. He is very versatile and can play multiple positions, even if he is not happy playing in a certain position, he goes out there and gives it his all.

“He is not tall in stature, but boy, is he strong. He has gotten better and better on the football. I have nothing but admiration for Tyler.”

The former Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool shot stopper has not had the pleasure of working alongside Adams’ Leeds United team-mate Aaronson, but is a fan of what he brings to the national side.

“Aaronson I don’t know as well in regards to his personality, but just watching him, he has done so well,” Friedel added. “It is great for the United States development side of things.

“I know we have been focusing more on that and pouring more resources into that, so it’s good that we are seeing some big strides being made. Aaronson is a bit different, he’s a player with a bit more guile.

“They’ll love him for his assists, his goals, and his work rate. Tyler they will love because no matter what game, whether it is Saturday at Old Trafford in a glamor tie, or Tuesday away to Rochdale in the League Cup, Tyler will give his all.”
