Ty Dillon Still Seeking First Top 20, Could Happen At Talladega This Weekend

Ty Dillon and the #77 Spire Motorsports team continue to struggle week in and week out this year. Thus far through the first nine races of the 2023 season, Dillon has yet to crack the top 20 in any single race and has a best result of 21st. His average finish this year is 31.3, which is over seven full positions worse than his previous worst (24.1 during the 2018 campaign). This weekend’s race at Talladega is a wildcard and equalizer, though, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Dillon finally got a good finish; statistically, this track is his best on the schedule (his average finish here is 15.2) and Ty has just two results worse than 17th in ten career starts. If Ty Dillon is going to have any decent finishes this season, it’s most likely to be at a superspeedway track such as Talladega this weekend or Daytona later in the year.
