At only 19 years old, TOMORROW X TOGETHER member Choi Soobin has already accomplished a lot in his career since debuting with TXT — also known as Teen Vogue’s July 2020 cover stars — in 2019. But he isn’t done adding roles to his résumé, and his latest venture is the perfect proof.
On July 20, the leader of the South Korean quintet was officially announced as Music Bank’s new MC alongside Oh My Girl’s Arin. As reported by Soompi, Soobin and Arin will be taking on MC duties for the show starting July 24.
In his new role, Soobin will act as one of the hosts of the popular music program, which has been on air since 1998. The show, which currently airs live every Friday on KBS2 and KBS World, features live music performance from Korean acts and also presents the K-Chart countdown, featuring the top 50 songs of the moment. In addition to presenting the awards at the end of the show, Music Bank’s MCs often interview artists throughout the broadcast.
Arin and Soobin will replace actor Shin Ye-Eun, known for K-dramas like A-Teen and Welcome, and Golden Child’s Choi Bomin. Ye-Eun and Bomin officially stepped down from their presenting roles on July 17 after a year on the show.
TXT themselves have appeared on Music Bank on multiple occasions. Most recently, the quintet appeared on the show to offer live performances of tracks like “Fairy of Shampoo,” “PUMA, ” and “Can’t You See Me?” — all from their latest release, The Dream Chapter: Eternity. Arin, the youngest member of Oh My Girl, has also appeared on the show herself on countless occasions. This June, the seven-member girl group performed “Nonstop,” the title track of their new mini-album of the same name.
It’s clear that, as performers, Soobin and Arin have mastered Music Bank, and we can’t wait to see how well they do on the other side!
