Vicente Luque extended Tyron Woodley’s skid on Saturday with a win in the UFC 260 co-headliner.
Luque (20-7-1 MMA, 13-3 UFC) put the name of a former UFC champ on his resume when he earned a first-round submission victory and handed Woodley (19-7-1 MMA, 9-6-1 UFC) his fourth consecutive loss in the welterweight co-main event, which took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Massive props to Woodley for going out there aggressively and going out on his shield, but Luque cashes big here. Hope Woodley is ok. #UFC260

Woodley definitely showed an all or nothing type of style this fight. I applaud that. Luque was just too durable and too good! #UFC260

Luque submits Woodley. First submission loss of Woodley’s career, in what was the last fight on his current UFC deal.

Tatiana Suarez
Damn! Now, that was awesome. If Woodley stayed a bit more calm it may have gone another way. He got too excited and was throwing bombs. But, sheesh power punches from both. Beautiful choke from Luque. #ufc260

This was a Woodley that was really going for the finish tonight. Tyron fought hard and to the end. Luque has a stone block for a head, a lot of heart and killer instinct. Luque continues to climb the rankings.

Stephen A. Smith
Damn! @TWooodley came out aggressive, but got caught with the choke. Couldn’t get out of it. Luque got him. That’s now four-straight major losses in a row for Woodley. Damn! Wish that didn’t happen

Brett Okamoto
Vicente Luque vs. Nate Diaz?? I kinda love it. Diaz wants to fight, but he’s selective about opponent. He wants an old school fighter, one who comes for blood and not points. And there’s actually not an obvious fight out there for Luque right now. I’d love this.
