Zach Wilson is officially a New York Jet.
What was long expected finally became official Thursday when Roger Goodell announced the selection during this year’s NFL draft in Cleveland.
The BYU product becomes the sixth quarterback in the Common Draft Era to be drafted by the Jets in the first round. Standing at 6-foot-2, 214 pounds, Wilson is a seemingly perfect fit in Mike LaFleur’s offense.
Wilson has undeniable arm talent and can stand tall in the pocket. At the same time, he’s a threat on the move and thrives on off-platform throws. The Jets are putting their faith in the 21-year-old to change the franchise’s misfortunes when it comes to the quarterback position.
For what it’s worth, it looks like fans and Wilson’s future teammates are on board with the selection.
