The Twins pounded the Yankees with three homers and and three doubles in the first inning.

The Minnesota Twins scored 9 runs in the first inning of tonight’s game against the New York Yankees, and in doing so at least temporarily quieted the noise surrounding their history of failures at Yankee Stadium.

The highlight of the big inning was back-to-back-to-back home runs by Michael A. Taylor, Edouard Julien and Carlos Correa. It was the first time the Twins hit three consecutive homers since … last year, against Gerrit Cole and the Yankees.

Here’s how the first inning went for the Twins…

  • Edouard Julien single
  • Carlos Correa infield single
  • Byron Buxton walk
  • Trevor Larnach sacrifice fly, 1-0
  • Jose Miranda double, 3-0
  • Donovan Solano double, 4-0
  • Nick Gordon ground out
  • Christian Vazquez double, 5-0
  • Michael A. Taylor homer, 7-0
  • Edouard Julien, 8-0
  • Carlos Correa homer, 9-0
  • Byron Buxton walk
  • Trevor Larnach pop out
  • When Larnach popped out to left for the third out, the hometown fans let out a loud Bronx cheer.
