Tweet About Raising Girls to Be Like Queen Instead of Meghan Sparks Debate

All eyes are on the British Royal Family as Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee festivities continue throughout the weekend.

Not only is the queen’s 70th anniversary on the throne a historic occasion which will likely never happen again. But, it also marks Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first time appearing publicly with the rest of the royal family since March 2020.

After the pair’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, members of the public have become obsessed with the palace intrigue surrounding the couple and their royal relations.

One author offered a tidbit of advice about royal role models on June 2, the day of Trooping the Colour.

“Raise your daughters to be like Queen Elizabeth, not Meghan Markle,” he tweeted. The statement was like nearly 24,000 times as of writing and has sparked thousands of comments in response.

One user, @flowerlady61, agreed with Adams. “[Meghan is] an ungrateful viper of a daughter,” she wrote. “And her fans will couch any criticism of her as racial, which is so predictable, and tiresome. She has treated her father, and Harry’s family, with rank disrespect.”

But some, like @clinicalchilly, stuck up for Markle. “Meghan has a double major degree from northwestern which is a one of the hardest universities to get into, she is extremely successful in her chosen career. I’d be more than happy,” they wrote.

Another typical reaction was for people to point out skeletons in the Windsor family closet. Many brought up Prince Andrew’s recent settlement with Virginia Roberts Giuffre after she accused him of rape, accusations he has consistently denied.

“Raise your sons like prince Harry not Prince Andrew!” @RikThomas4 shot back.

Others focused on Queen Elizabeth II’s privilege. “Yes, it’s much better for your daughter to inherit your lands, castles, and titles than for her to have a career and then marry a prince…,” wrote @SantaInc. “Oh, I’m sorry, you have no lands, castles, nor titles? Too bad, old chap…”

Despite the protests, Adams’ tweet’s near 24,000 likes prove quite a few people do agree with him.

Adams himself is a Trump-backed conservative author who was born in Australia but mostly comments on American politics.

Adams’ political career began as an activist for the Young Liberal party in Sydney, where he was eventually elected as a councillor for Ashfield, in west Sydney.

He became Australia’s youngest deputy mayor in 2005, when he offered to tackle the spread of avian flu by recommending the extermination of pigeons in the council.

The party suspended him in 2009 after his verbal tirade against a journalist was broadcast on TV.

He has tweeted about Markle once again during the Jubilee weekend, writing, “Prenups exist because of women like Amber Heard and Meghan Markle.”

The Jubilee celebrations are continuing the whole weekend, and on Sunday June 5, there will be thousands of Jubilee lunches across the country to celebrate the queen’s reign.

More than 60,000 people have registered to host these lunches, according to the Royal Family’s website.

The long weekend will end with the Platinum Jubilee Pageant, expected to reflect on iconic moments from the queen’s reign and British society over the last seven decades.
