Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said no one invited her to participate in the Democratic National Convention.
On Thursday night, the Hawaii member of Congress, and one of the six women who ran for the Democratic Party’s nomination for president, revealed on Twitter that no one invited her to speak at the convention.
“You’re correct — I was not invited to participate in any way,” Gabbard said in response to a tweet that noted she was one of seven Democrats to earn delegates during the primary elections.
Gabbard has taken aim at several prominent Democrats, issuing scathing criticisms against now-vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris, accusing her of keeping innocent people in jail. She also filed a defamation lawsuit against 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton after the former secretary of state called her a “Russian asset.”
“Great! Thank you @HillaryClinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain,” Gabbard tweeted after Clinton’s comments.
“From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose. It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly,” she continued.
Gabbard dropped the lawsuit in May.
Businessman Andrew Yang also said on Aug. 11 that he expected to be a speaker at the convention but was snubbed by the Democratic National Committee.
“I’ve got to be honest I kind of expected to speak,” Yang tweeted. “Maybe I endorsed against one too many incumbents.”
After public outcry from his supporters, the DNC reversed its decision a few days later and invited him to speak.
“And it’s official — we have been added to the DNC Convention speaker lineup! Thank you #YangGang and everyone else who made this happen! #YangIsSpeaking,” he later tweeted.
