PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Good Tuesday morning everyone!

It’s a little active this morning on satellite and radar with mostly cloudy skies and a few showers developing largely over the warm waters of the Gulf. But they’ll likely find their way onshore around Tyndall on down toward Apalachicola and areas surrounding. While most of the morning rain chance is on the coast in this location, the afternoon holds a more widely scattered shot at a thunderstorm. So keep the umbrellas handy today.

Otherwise, it’s another warm and humid start. Yet with a bit more cloud cover in our skies today, we won’t warm up to get as hot as yesterday or days prior. Highs today only top out in the mid 80s. However, the heat index will still reach the low to mid 90s. While it’ll still be hot, it won’t be as oppressive as the weekend or last week was.

We’ll also have decent chances today and for the next several days to see some rain to try and cool us off during the day. A stalled out frontal boundary will remain draped across the Southeast helping to foster daytime showers and thunderstorms. Most days the rain appears to be scattered and periodic.

However, with the abundance of moisture in the atmosphere, any storms that do develop will have the potential to drop heavy rains. A Flash Flood Watch will remain in effect through Tuesday night for 2-4″ of rain with the possibility of localized areas receiving up to 6″.

We’ll be back to a more seasonal pattern of more heat and typical scattered storms by mid to late week.

Bottom Line…

For today, mostly cloudy skies with scattered storms. Rain chances are around 60-80%. Highs today top out in the mid 80s. Your 7 Day Forecast features a couple more unsettled days before we’re back to a more typical summery storm chance with hotter temperatures into the mid to late week.
