Trump warns supporters not to ‘get duped’ by Ramaswamy
Vivek #Vivek
Former President Donald Trump took aim at fellow Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on Saturday because he is “not MAGA.”
Trump posted his attack on Ramaswamy on his social media platform Truth Social ahead of his rally in Iowa. Ramaswamy similarly toured the state, as its caucus, the first nominating contest in the nation, is on Monday.
“Vivek started his campaign as a great supporter, ‘the best President in generations,’ etc,” Trump wrote, quoting Ramaswamy’s statement during an RNC debate last year. “Unfortunately, now all he does is disguise his support in the form of deceitful campaign tricks. Very sly, but a vote for Vivek is a vote for the ‘other side’ — don’t get duped by this. Vote for ‘TRUMP,’ don’t waste your vote! Vivek is not MAGA.”
Ramaswamy’s campaign released a statement Saturday night lamenting what the former president said without being critical of him.
“Yes, I saw President Trump’s Truth Social post,” Ramaswamy said in the release. “It’s an unfortunate move by his campaign advisors, I don’t think friendly fire is helpful. Donald Trump was the greatest President of the 21st century, and I’m not going to criticize him in response to this late attack.”
Ramaswamy also posted his support for Trump amid his legal battles on X on Saturday night.
“This system will stop at nothing to keep this man away from the White House,” Ramaswamy said.
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case in which Trump is alleged to have violated the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment on Jan. 6, 2021, to determine if he can be on the ballot.
