Former President Donald Trump has announced his endorsement of the current Attorney General of Texas Ken Paxton. On Monday, Trump released a letterhead detailing his support for Paxton.

“Attorney General Ken Paxton has been bravely on the front line in the fight for Texas, and America, against the vicious and very dangerous Radical Left Democrats, and the foolish and unsuspecting RINOs that are destroying our Country,” said Trump.

“Ken is strong on Crime, Border Security, the Second Amendment, Election Integrity, and, above all, our Constitution. He loves our Military and our Vets. It is going to take a PATRIOT like Ken Paxton to advance America First policies in order to Make America Great Again. Ken has my Complete and Total Endorsement for another term as Attorney General of Texas. He is a true Texan who will keep Texas safe—and will never let you down!”

Paxton and George P. Bush are currently in a tight-knit race for the next Attorney Governor of Texas. Paxton was elected as Attorney General of Texas in 2015. He was re-elected for a second term in 2015.

Paxton has been a staunch ally of Trump. Earlier this year, he filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court against Biden based on discredited claims of voter fraud in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia and Wisconsin during the 2020 Presidential Election. Paxton backed the former president, filing suit against the Biden Administration over a proposed freeze of deportations and again for revoking the 2019 presidential permit granted for the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Bush currently serves as Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office. He is the only member of the Bush political dynasty to have publicly supported Trump.

“When you look at my policies, I’m all about America First. Trump is the center of the Republican Party,” Bush said to Fox News Primetime on June 10. “I’m my own man, I support him and we need to carry on that legacy, capture the lightning that he brought to the Republican Party so that we can help all of our fellow Republicans down-ballot.”

When Bush was asked about any backlash he may have received from his family members, he made it clear that family is still at the forefront of his mind, regardless of political differences.

“I think we’re just like any American family, where we have differences of opinion, whether it’s with respect to President Trump, whether it’s with respect to hot button issues,” said Bush to Fox News.

The Texas Attorney General election will take place on Nov 8, 2022.
