Trail Blazers fans react to season-ending Game 6 loss to Denver Nuggets: ‘Goodnight, Portland’
Blazers #Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers saw their season come to an end with a 126-115 loss to the Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of their first-round playoff series Thursday.
Basketball fans in Portland, Denver and across the globe shared their thoughts about the game on social media. Topics during the night ranged from a hot start by Michael Porter Jr., absurd foul trouble for Jusuf Nurkic and the Blazers collapsing down the stretch.
Media, fans and athletes online had a lot to say while watching the game. Here are a few of the topics that had them talking about …
… the ridiculous start to the game for Nuggets young star Michael Porter Jr. He couldn’t miss. In the first nine minutes of the game, Porter scored 22 points while going 6 of 7 from deep.
… Anfernee Simons making an impact off the bench in the second quarter. Simons had nine points in relief for the Blazers (all from deep, 3 of 3 shooting) at halftime. That’s the most he’s contributed for Portland in the playoffs since Game 1 (14 points).
… the ridiculous foul trouble Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic got himself in during the third quarter. Nurkic, who had zero fouls going into the second half, picked up — wait for it — four fouls in the quarter alone!
… Portland’s complete meltdown down the stretch of the game. The Blazers had a 14-point lead at one point and Denver manhandled them in the final minutes to end the series.
