Trade deadline arrives without Packers, Texans making deal for Will Fuller

Will Fuller will not be heading to Green Bay.

Tuesday’s trade deadline came and went without a deal between the Packers and Houston Texans for Fuller, the primary target of pre-deadline speculation between the two teams.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers and Texans failed to find common ground on the value for Fuller, who is having a career-year in the final year of his rookie deal in 2020.

More than likely, the Texans wanted a better draft pick than GM Brian Gutekunst was willing to send to Houston.

It’s possible Fuller would have been nothing more than a rental player for the Packers, but it’s also clear the Packers sense a growing need at receiver, a position they’ve failed to address the last two years.

Matt LaFleur and the Packers will move forward at receiver with Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling as the primary targets behind three-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams.

Fuller, who has 31 catches for 490 yards and five touchdowns in 2020, will stay in Houston.

The Packers did not make a move at the deadline, picking instead to stand pat with the current roster.
