Disney has revealed Toy Story 5 is officially in the works.
Just when you thought you said goodbye to the gang in the fourth instalment, it looks like the Mickey Mouse corporation is resurrecting it.
Collider and Deadline have reported that the announcement was made during Disney’s latest earnings call.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said at the meeting: “Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia.
“We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”

You’re not wrong in saying this is ‘great’ because people will no doubt be stoked to go back into Andy and Bonnie’s world of playful toys.
It’s unclear whether the likes of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen or the other regulars who have been a part of the franchise will be returning.
Toy Story 4 saw a rather fitting end to the saga.
We got to see Buzz Lightyear encourage Woody to go with Bo Peep and become ‘Lost Toys’.
Woody gives his badge to Jessie before heading off with his partner and her sheep, McDimples, Duke Caboom, Bunny and Ducky.
His longtime friends have to wave goodbye as they choose to stay with Bonnie, Andy’s younger sister.
The ‘Lost Toys’ then decide to travel with the carnival and help prized toys find new owners.
So, we have no idea whether this new sequel will focus on Woody and Bo Peep’s new life as ‘Lost Toys’ or if it will be about Buzz Lightyear and his pals.
Or, and just hear me out here, we could see everyone reunite for one more adventure.
It’s fairly unsurprising that Disney is dipping its toes back into the likes of Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia.
Toy Story 4 brought in a whopping $1.07 billion at the box office when it dropped in 2019.
Similarly, Frozen 2 earned $1.45 billion and Zootopia had a $1.02 billion box office bonanza.
