Tourists hilariously recount nightmare stay in European hostel: ‘She was butt arse naked’

Two Australians traveling through Europe who wanted to try out a hostel for the first time have revealed the “disgusting” experience that ensured they would never do it again.
Liv Hull and Demi Rutter shared their “hostel icks” on TikTok – including naked roommates, flooding showers, and sagging beds.
The women from Sydney said it was their first hostel experience and they definitely weren’t ready for what was to come.
“Our first roommate, I looked over the next morning and she was butt arse naked. Like nothing, not a thing,” Rutter said.

“I don’t know what the common courtesy is for what you wear in a hostel but I didn’t know you could wear nothing to bed.”
The women also said they had seen people sleep with their eyes open.
On the first night, Rutter explained she bunked with Hull because she didn’t want to sleep on a top bunk alone as she had broken her arm falling off a top bunk as a child.
“I don’t know what the common courtesy is for what you wear in a hostel but I didn’t know you could wear nothing to bed,” Rutter said.TikTok/livhull_
Then the hostel assumed she wasn’t staying there anymore and booked out the bed again, meaning they had five people in a four-bed dorm.
“I traveled down to reception and said ‘You’ve overbooked, someone’s in our bed’ and so they gave us literally a sunbed,” Hull said.
That wasn’t the end of their run-in with bad luck.

The travelers explained the showers were unisex and “see-through.”
“So if you came out of the shower, you could see the person having a shower next to you,” Ms Rutter said.
“Just to top it off,” she said her shower head fell off while she was showering.

She also added the showers would fill up because there was so much hair clogging the drains.
Back in the room, the women admitted they should have done more research as there was no air conditioner or even a fan in the middle of summer.

The beds weren’t the best either.
“The whole thing dipped so far, I thought I was going to sleep literally on top of the guy below me,” Ms Hull said.
“When I laid down, the mattress came up over my head. I was like ‘I’m in a little tunnel down here.’”
The women hilariously concluded that the hostel life wasn’t for them, but commenters said they may have just stayed in one of the worst.
“Reading the reviews is sooooo important when booking a hostel, I’ve stayed in heaps but do lots of research first,” one traveler advised.
“You seem to have booked the worst hostel of all time! They are definitely not like this,” another said.
“Omg I’ve done so many and none of this ever happened,” wrote a third.
Others took the opportunity to share their own hostel icks.

“What about the person who hits snooze on their alarm for about 3 hours?” wrote one person.
“Or the guy who decides 3 am is the perfect time to pack his suitcase.”
“The bunk trauma is real, I nearly broke my neck and had to go to a chiro [for] weeks. Was banned from the top,” related another.
“The memories of Europe hostels flooding back … the soup bowl of thick physical smells they had,” one person recalled.
