According to The Telegraph, Conte is in no rush to sign a new deal and wants confirmation that Spurs’ ambition matches his own.

The 53-year-old wants Tottenham to demonstrate they share his ambition to win trophies and compete at the top of the table.

The Italian is also considering his family who have remained in Italy for the duration of his time in north London.

Conte took the reins in November 2021 following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo and immediately made his mark on the squad.

The former Chelsea boss led Spurs to a fourth-place finish in the league last season, pipping neighbours Arsenal to the final Champions League place.

This season, Conte has led Spurs to top spot in their Champions League group and will take on AC Milan in the round of 16 in February.

Spurs are primed for a return to the top table of European football again next season with the club sitting in fourth place ahead of the Premier League’s resumption.

Conte had been linked with a move back to Juventus but a return to the Old Lady looks out of the question with the Italian giants facing financial difficulties.

Conte’s decision could influence the future of star striker Harry Kane whose contract expires in 2024.

Bayern Munich have been long-standing admirers of the England skipper with a focus on winning honours likely to be in his thinking ahead of his next deal.

Eyes will be on the Spurs striker after his penalty miss in England’s World Cup quarter-final against France.

Kane is still without a trophy in his career and will be desperate to get over his World Cup disappointment when Spurs resume their league season.

Conte’s side make the short trip to Brentford on Boxing Day hoping to leapfrog third-placed Newcastle.
