Tottenham delete tweet of Champions League bottle and Arsenal mocked for Europa League advert as north London sides trolled by rival fans

Tottenham Hotspur have deleted a tweet after it led rival fans to joke they would bottle the Champions League this season.
And their north London rivals Arsenal have also found themselves in the firing line due to a new advert promoting their return to Europa League football.

Arteta’s Arsenal have also got some stick before their Europa League match with FC Zurich
Spurs face Ligue 1 side Marseille at home on Wednesday night – live on talkSPORT – for their first game back in the competition for two years.
The club’s Twitter account had been building up to the European tie with plenty of Champions League content.
But one tweet stood out to fans – particularly of their rivals – as they looked forward to their first group stage game.
“Hotspur Way,” the post said.
However, it was the picture posted with the tweet that led them to be mocked – an image of a Champions League branded bottle placed on their training pitch.
Unfortunately for Spurs, after losing to Liverpool in the 2019 final and failing to win a trophy since 2008 despite numerous semi-final and final appearances, the north London club have been labelled ‘bottle jobs’ by their rivals.

One fan, presumably a rival, replied with a funny pun
And Tuesday’s bottle-focused tweet inevitably led to their foes coming out to troll them, including jibes of ‘Bottleham Hotspurs’.
It’s clear the Spurs Twitter admin didn’t think the picture and the connotations of the bottle through, as it was soon deleted – although it remains live on their Instagram page.
Meanwhile, on the red side of north London, Arsenal have been grilled on social media too.
The Gunners missed out on a Champions League place on the final day of the Premier League last season to Spurs, putting them back into the Europa League.

This Europa League ad has put the Gunners in the firing line
But whilst Gooners were gutted their side just missed out on playing in the most prestigious European competition, an advert put out by BT Sport suggests otherwise.
Fans flooded online to mock the Gunners after the teaser showed a clip of a beaming Aaron Ramsdale, Arsenal’s goalkeeper, saying: “We’re back, baby!”
Much to rivals’ amusement, the shot of the glovesman was followed by a graphic to promote ‘Thursday nights’ – the very day Arsenal fans wanted to avoid in the run in to the top four last season.
