Toronto’s CN Tower lit up in Canadiens colors and Twitter was not pleased

The Maple Leafs were handed a stunning Game 7 loss by the Canadiens a little over a week ago. It left the city of Toronto, its fans and the team demoralized as it was another season of playoff disappointment. It’s been 17 postseasons not even winning a round and 54 years without Lord Stanley Cup

On Monday night, those same Canadiens who won three in a row against the Leafs finished off the Jets in four games. It was something to celebrate for Montreal as the team stamped the first spot in the 2021 Stanley Cup semifinals.

You wouldn’t think it’d be something for Toronto to celebrate; but, well, don’t tell the CN Tower that.

The famed Toronto skyscraper posted that it was being lit up in the Canadiens colors on Tuesday night to celebrate the North Division’s winner who will now, technically, be “Canada’s team.”

Of course, Twitter weighed in on the CN Tower’s “troll job” and pouring salt into the still-fresh wounds of the team and fans alike.
