Too Hot To Handle’ Actually Pulled Off The Plot Twist: Here’s How

lana #lana

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for reality TV fanatics: on Dec. 7, season four of Too Hot To Handle hit Netflix — and it’s already getting crazy. The cast is new, crazy, and incredibly horny… oh, and Mario Lopez is there, too.

But, let me backtrack. If you’re unfamiliar with Too Hot To Handle, I’ll explain. This Netflix reality series is all about forming relationships that go deeper than just the physical. So, what better way to do this than to put a ton of horny, emotionally unavailable hot people on a beach together and (basically) force them not to touch? But what makes this show so juicy is the fact that they never go in knowing that they’re on Too Hot To Handle — and when the “no sex” rule is revealed, it sets the entire cast into a downward spiral.

However, with the show’s massive popularity, it’s kind of hard to not know that you’re on Too Hot To Handle. After all, for the past three seasons, it’s been shot at the same recognizable resorts, the infamous “Lana” cone is in plain sight, and their go-to fakeout show is so laughably phony. So, it’s safe to say that season four definitely caught viewers by surprise. And no, not just because Mario Lopez makes an appearance, but also because Netflix actually pulled off the twist this time. I gotta say, they kind of snapped.

Too Hot to Handle was filmed at a new resort.

One of the most recognizable parts of Too Hot To Handle, aside from Lana, is the set. Seasons one and two were filmed at Casa Tau in Punta Mita, Mexico, and season three was filmed at the Turtle Tail estate on Turks and Caicos island of Providenciales. As someone who watched three whole seasons of this show, I assure you that, if you placed me on either one of these sets, I would recognize the resort immediately. I have dreams about the season three pool.

However, season four was filmed at a new resort in the Caribbean. Here’s to hoping that they won’t recycle this one next season — I will never forget this pool, either.

Mario Lopez is in season four of Too Hot To Handle…

Every season, Netflix presents some kind of fake reality show to trick the contestants. Think: Love Island, but bad. The host is the most obviously fake reality tv personality you’ve ever seen, the “plot” of the fake reality show is basically “Have a bunch of sex! Nothing bad will happen, we promise!”, and all of this is happening while Lana is basically out in plain sight.

However, season four took the contestants, and the viewers, by surprise by creating a new reality TV show, Wild Love, and bringing on Mario Lopez to act as the host. This season’s fakeout show had an actual plot, intro, and logo — and it looked pretty legit. I’d probably fall for it, NGL.

Maybe next season, Too Hot To Handle will take place in like, a Holiday Inn or something. And maybe, Nick and Vanessa Lachey will come out as fake hosts, too. That’ll really throw ’em off.
