Clare 1-22 Waterford 0-21

CLARE STARTED OUT on the 2021 Munster hurling road in an upbeat fashion, a well-merited success at the expense of Waterford, in a game where they largely dominated but could never quite ease off having secured success.

Tony Kelly again showed the way with 1-12 while John Conlon was in masterful form in defence but 22 wides is indicative of the key area that Clare need to tend to before facing Tipperary next Sunday.

Waterford were sluggish for so long, mounting a late rally courtesy of a scoring touch from their substitutes while Stephen Bennett (0-12) and Austin Gleeson (0-4) were the most proficient of their starting side.
