Kicking off a Tuesday double-header, Tomoya Goto has continued the run of Asian success at the PDC World Darts Championship in recent days, taking a brilliant 3-1 win over former quarter-finalist, Ian White.

Although White was the much more well-known and experience of the pair, it was the Japanese who hit the ground running. Goto punished some missed set darts from White to take the opening set in a decider.

White, a former World Darts Championship quarter-finalist, seemed to have wrestled back control in set 2 as he moved two legs clear. Again the set winning dart eluded him however. Passing up three opportunities, White allowed Goto the chance and the Japanese gleefully took it to double his lead.

Despite a few more misses to kick off the third set, White nudged in front. Breaking throw in the following leg he moved two clear in the set. Goto fought back with a break of his own in leg 3 but he missed tops for a 101, White punished, hitting what Goto had missed and pulling a set back.

After White had missed tops to break in the opening leg of set 4, Goto held to go one leg up. then breaking throw in 14 darts, the Japanese moved a leg away from the win. With the throw Goto had the advantage and kicking off with a maximum he was racing towards the finish line. Despite White hitting a 180 of his own in return, Goto kept his cool to take the win.
